So we’re setting up our tent and, as usual, it was pretty windy. New Zealand is definitely a windier place than BC. So anyway, we have our tent all set up, and I’m getting the pegs to secure it, when a gust of wind comes along and blow our tent end-over-end across the field, across the gravel road and beyond. In fact, the tent only stopped when it hit the lamp post.
We had a good laugh about it until we actually saw the damage. The thing about a (brand new!) super light weight tent is that it isn’t meant to be dragged across gravel, you know? We also weren’t laughing when we had to camp in the rain later, but luckily we never really wound up getting wet.
